Tara O’Rourke LNHA, MA, CTRS, CDP, CADDCT (Trainer), CDCM currently serves as Administrator of ProMedica Goerlich Center for Dementia Care on the campus of ProMedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio and of the Transitional Care Unit at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Recreational Therapy as well as a minor in Psychology and a concentration in Therapeutic Art and has also earned a Graduate Certificate in Elder Law.
She has previously served as a part-time instructor for over 13 years at The University of Toledo teaching various therapeutic recreation and therapeutic art related courses. She has also spoken at numerous long-term and dementia care conferences, seminars and events. While Tara has worked with older adults in long-term care, adult day care, independent or assisted living since 1996 in a variety of capacities, she feels most passionate about caring for individuals with memory loss.
Tara serves as a Provider Member for the national Advancing Excellence program that strives to make nursing homes better places to live, work and visit. She is the recipient of the 2014 American College of Health Care Administrators Education Award for excellence in dementia education.
