The average person in the United States gets 6.9 hours of sleep per night, while the recommended amount of sleep is 8-9 hours.

Being sleep deprived can lead to fatigue and low productivity and increase your risk of certain conditions, such as diabetes, depression and heart disease. It can also interfere with the body’s ability to lose weight effectively.
