Greg Grotbeck, a chaplain with ProMedica, believes that there’s a spiritual component to music that can aid a person in the healing process. That’s why he enjoys participating in a music ministry, playing music and singing for patients in the hospital.
“It’s incredible in terms of the support that people feel on an emotional level with music,” says Grotbeck.
And many patients agree, saying it’s uplifting, comforting and peaceful. According to Grotbeck, studies have shown that the emotional state of a patient has an impact on the healing process, and music can play a part in that.
