It sounds like something from a science fiction novel, but doctors say they can now use a patient’s own body to heal itself when it comes to joint damage. The practice is called regenerative medicine, and only a handful of doctors across the country are doing it, including Roger Kruse, MD, a family and sports medicine doctor with ProMedica Physicians.
Dr. Kruse has had success with dozens of patients, including sports icon golfer Nancy Lopez, who traveled to Toledo from her home in Florida for the treatment. But how did it work? ProMedica HealthConnect correspondent spoke with Dr. Kruse and the golf great to see how regenerative medicine works.
