ProMedica Foundations Hosts 2021 Philanthropy Awards

The ProMedica Foundation recently held their 2021 Philanthropy Awards ceremony on Thursday, November 4 at the Renaissance Hotel Toledo. At the ceremony, numerous employees, organizations, volunteers, and community members were honored for giving back to both ProMedica and their local communities in a meaningful way.

Philanthropist of the Year: Cherie Joseph

The ProMedica Philanthropist of the Year Award is given by ProMedica Foundations to an individual(s) who set a standard of excellence in the health and well‐being of our community. This individual has provided financial support to improve health care at a ProMedica Institution or within the community. The candidate generously volunteers their time and has taken a leadership role to encourage and inspire others to help ProMedica achieve its mission.


Emerging Philanthropist of the Year: Brady Fineske

The ProMedica Emerging Philanthropist of the Year Award is given by ProMedica Foundations to a young professional who shows exemplary support to achieve our mission. This individual has made donation(s) to support efforts to improve health care at a ProMedica Institution or within the community. The candidate is an advocate for ProMedica who inspires others to get involved and has made an impact to improve health and well‐being in our community


Junior Philanthropist of the Year: Cate Brossia

The ProMedica Junior Philanthropist of the Year Award is given by ProMedica Foundations to a student (age 5‐18) who has selflessly raised funds and/or volunteered to help improve the health and well‐being of others. This person inspired their community to be generous making a positive impact on someone’s life.


Mission Partner of the Year: Owens Corning/Owens Corning Foundation

The ProMedica Mission Partner of the year is given by ProMedica Foundations to a business partner who has provided financial support to improve health care at a ProMedica institution or within the community. The company’s commitment evokes transformative change in our community and helps ProMedica achieve its mission to improve health and well‐being.

Philanthropy Champions of the Year: Doug Wanke and Nicholas Schenk

The ProMedica Philanthropy Champion of the year is given by ProMedica Foundations to a physician and an employee/department that has shown exemplary service to a ProMedica patient and the community. The candidate is an advocate for outstanding health care as demonstrated through the compassion, hope, and healing they provide to their patients and the community.


Volunteers of the Year: Kevin O’Neal and Joel Rupp

The ProMedica Volunteer of the Year is given by ProMedica Foundations to an individual(s) or group whose unselfish and dedicated service has made a significant difference in the lives of our patients, families, and community. The candidate inspires others to help ProMedica achieve its mission.


Ebeid Healthy Neighborhood Partner of the Year: Backpacks for Humans

The ProMedica Ebeid Healthy Neighborhood Partner of the Year is given by ProMedica Foundations to a partner agency who has joined with ProMedica to help create communities where all individuals reach their highest potential for health. These businesses or individuals are committed to reshaping the healthcare delivery model to focus on the root causes of poor health by increasing access to healthy food, delivering nutritional education and providing job training opportunities.
